Dragon Keepers Book 6 - The Dragon at the North PoleMy family and I have been fans of the Dragon Keepers series since it began with The Dragon in the Sock Drawer. In this series, ten-year-old cousins Jesse and Daisy become ‘parents’ to Emmy the Dragon. Emmy has grown significantly in each book, from baby to toddler to tween to teen and after 5 books, she’s nearing adulthood. Through the first three books, there was a consistent villain (Saint George) while Emmy became acclimated to the human world with a little magic in it. The series took a turn in books four and five, each of which takes place in a different (without giving too much away), more magical environment. It appears that book 6, The Dragon at the North Pole, will continue that trend.

Emmy, who has never seen snow before (being less than one human year old), ends up traveling – with Santa – to the North Pole. That’s all I know and that’s really all I want to know about the upcoming book, as I look forward to reading it myse- … I mean with my kids.

If you haven’t read any of the books in this series, you’re in for a treat. You’ve got time before the September release to catch up on all five previously released books in the series. As is noted by the publisher, this is a great series for those who are looking for something slightly longer than The Magic Tree House, but might not be quite ready for Harry Potter. I would add one thing: even if you are old enough for Harry Potter, Dragon Keepers is a definintely a series worth reading. Thanks Kate Klimo!
