  • Picture Book: The Family Tree written and illustrated by David McPhail
  • Children’s Fiction: One White Dolphin by Gill Lewis
  • Children’s Nonfiction: Citizen Scientist: Be a Part of Scientific Discovery from Your Own Backyard by Loree Griffin Burns, photographed by Ellen Harasimowicz
  • Young Adult Fiction: Endangered by Eliot Schrefer
  • Young Adult Nonfiction: Moonbird: A Year on the Wind with the Great Survivor B95 by Phillip Hoose

Just a refresher: The Green Earth Book Award highlights the best youth literature that inspires environmental stewardship. The award has been given annually by The Nature Generation, an environmental nonprofit, since 2005, 2013 being the 9th year the award was given. The award ceremony will be held during the Salisbury University Read Green Literature Festival in Maryland on April 4-6, 2013.
