The Wizard of Oz (All-Action Classic)Lately I’ve been reading graphic novels. So I read a graphic novel version of the Wizard of Oz. This is not really based on the movie – it is based on the original book. So if you haven’t read the book, you might not be familiar with some of the stuff that happens in the graphic novel. For example, there are Kalidahs in the book. They are kind of like ginormous tigers. They are definitely not in the movie.

I really liked the way that Ben Caldwell retold the story. I liked it because it was only dialogue, but there was so much detail in the talking. I liked the art a lot and the he way he made the faces show feeling. I can tell what the characters are feeling because of the detail in their expressions. When I was reading this, all the details in Caldwell’s writing made me feel like I was there. The pictures were cool when they were in the Emerald City because everything had a greenish glow. It was exciting when the flying monkeys were taking Dorothy, the Lion, and Toto to the Wicked Witch of the West because it was cool to visualize. The pictures, when they went into my brain, kind of made a movie in my head.

And at the end of the book, it shows a map of Oz with the path Dorothy took on her journey. If you like classic books, you might like this retelling. This book was so good that I had a hard time putting it down.

I hope you had fun reading this post.

I had fun writing it.
